๐Ÿ”’ Summary

Orbix does not collect, sell, or share any of your personal data. Everything is stored locally on your device. The only external calls made are the AI API requests you explicitly trigger โ€” and those go directly to OpenRouter, not to us.

SECTION 01

๐ŸŒOverview

Orbix ("the Extension", "we", "our") is a Chrome browser extension developed by Mubashir Hassan. It provides AI-powered browser control through Chrome's native side panel interface, allowing users to open websites, interact with pages, send WhatsApp messages, manage tabs, and more โ€” all using plain English.

This Privacy Policy explains what data the Extension handles, how it is stored, and what third-party services it interacts with. By installing and using Orbix, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

SECTION 04

๐Ÿ’พLocal Storage

All data that Orbix stores is kept exclusively in chrome.storage.local โ€” Chrome's built-in local storage API. This data lives only on your device and is never transmitted to any server controlled by the developer.

You can view and delete all locally stored data at any time:

๐Ÿ—‘๏ธ How to Delete All Orbix Data

Method 1: Uninstall the extension โ€” Chrome automatically removes all associated local storage.
Method 2: Chrome Settings โ†’ Privacy & Security โ†’ Clear Browsing Data โ†’ Extension Data.
Method 3: Open Chrome DevTools on the extension page โ†’ Application โ†’ Storage โ†’ Clear Site Data.

SECTION 05

๐Ÿค–Third-Party APIs

When you send a message in Orbix, the following data is sent to OpenRouter (openrouter.ai) to generate an AI response:

โš ๏ธ Data Sent to OpenRouter

โ€ข Your message text
โ€ข Conversation history (for context)
โ€ข Browser context: active tab title, tab URL list, page content (only when you explicitly request page reading)
โ€ข Your selected AI model identifier

This data is subject to OpenRouter's own Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. We strongly recommend reviewing them at openrouter.ai/privacy before using Orbix.

Orbix sends only the minimum data necessary to generate an AI response. The developer has no access to the content of your API calls โ€” these go directly from your browser to OpenRouter's servers.

No other third-party services are used. There are no analytics providers, advertising networks, crash reporting tools, or CDN data collection in Orbix.

SECTION 06

๐Ÿ”‘Permissions Explained

Chrome requires Orbix to declare certain permissions. Each is used exclusively for its stated purpose:

PermissionWhy It's Needed
tabsRead tab titles and URLs to display in the panel, close duplicates, switch tabs by name, and give the AI browser context.
scriptingInject content scripts to read pages, fill forms, click buttons, and extract data โ€” only when you request an action.
storageStore your settings, API key, chat history, and saved actions locally on your device.
sidePanelDisplay the Orbix UI in Chrome's native side panel.
activeTabAccess the current tab for screenshots and page interaction โ€” only when you send a command.
tabGroupsCreate and label tab groups when you ask Orbix to organise your tabs.
bookmarksBookmark the current page when you use the Bookmark button.
contextMenusAdd "Summarize with Orbix" to the right-click menu.
notificationsDeliver reminder notifications you explicitly schedule.
<all_urls>Orbix must work on any site you visit since you can command it to interact with any page.

SECTION 07

๐ŸŽคMicrophone Access

If you choose to use the Voice Input feature, Orbix requests microphone access through your browser's standard permission prompt.

๐ŸŽค What Happens With Your Voice

โ€ข Voice input uses the browser's built-in Web Speech API โ€” processed locally or by your browser vendor (Google, if using Chrome)
โ€ข No audio is recorded, stored, or sent to the extension developer
โ€ข The microphone is active only while you are actively using the Voice button
โ€ข You can deny microphone permission โ€” all other features work normally without it

Microphone permission is optional and only requested when you tap the Voice button. You can revoke it at any time in Chrome Settings โ†’ Privacy & Security โ†’ Site Settings โ†’ Microphone.

SECTION 08

๐Ÿ””Notifications

Orbix uses browser notifications exclusively to deliver reminders that you explicitly schedule using commands like "Remind me to check emails at 5pm" or "Remind me in 30 minutes."

Orbix will never send promotional, marketing, unsolicited, or automated notifications. Notifications are triggered only by your own commands and fired locally โ€” no server is involved.

SECTION 09

๐Ÿ‘ถChildren's Privacy

Orbix is not directed at or intended for use by individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the Extension, please contact us immediately at the email below and we will take appropriate action.

SECTION 10

๐Ÿ“Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the extension's functionality or legal requirements. Changes will be reflected in the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.

If changes are material, we will note them in the Chrome Web Store update description. Continued use of the Extension after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.

๐Ÿ“ข How You'll Know About Changes

Check the Chrome Web Store listing update notes, or revisit this page periodically. The "Last Updated" date at the top always reflects the most recent revision.
