Full setup takes less than 5 minutes. Follow these steps in order for a smooth experience.
Download the Claude Desktop application from claude.ai/download and sign in with a Claude Pro or Max account. The MCP tools feature is only available on paid plans.
Download the correct version for your operating system from this page. On Windows, you'll get a Hello WhatsApp-Setup-x.x.x.exe installer file. Run it to install the app on your PC — no store required, just a standard Windows installer.
On Windows, click "More Info" → "Run Anyway" if Windows SmartScreen appears (the app is safe — it's simply unsigned). Follow the installer wizard: Next → Install → Finish → Run.
The app will display a QR code. On your phone: open WhatsApp → tap the three dots → Settings → Linked Devices → Link a Device → scan the QR code. You'll see "Connected" when successful.
In the Hello WhatsApp app, click the green "Install into Claude Desktop" button. This automatically edits your Claude Desktop config file to register the MCP server — no manual JSON editing required.
Fully quit Claude Desktop (including from the system tray) and reopen it. Go to Settings → Developer — you should see "Hello WhatsApp" listed as a connected MCP server with a green indicator.
Open Claude Desktop and type: "Please check if WhatsApp is connected" — Claude will confirm and list recent chats. You're now ready to send messages, read conversations, and build automations.

The MCP server runs entirely on your computer. WhatsApp session data is stored locally, just like WhatsApp Web. No message content touches our servers.
With Safe Mode enabled, Claude must show you exactly who it's messaging and what it will say — and wait for your approval before sending anything.
The connection uses WhatsApp's official "Linked Devices" system — the same as WhatsApp Web. Your phone remains the primary device and can disconnect anytime.
We do not collect, transmit, or store your WhatsApp messages, contacts, or conversation history. What's on your device stays on your device.
Claude shows you every tool call it makes. You can see exactly what the WhatsApp MCP tool is being instructed to do before and after each action.
Closing the Hello WhatsApp app immediately disconnects Claude from your WhatsApp. Or unlink via the app button, or directly from your phone's Linked Devices settings.
